This research group has been focusing on the analysis of the representations of gender and ethnicity through popular media such as magazines and films created and published in Japan, Britain, and US during the World War II. In this panel, we will see how the women in uniforms were represented in the media and that these media greatly contributed to nationalizing women at the war.
