The purposes of this study are to develop scale involving sense of ill-being [SOI] in patients with chronic illness that capture their perception of health and examine the scales’ reliability and validity targeting diabetic patients. The validity was supported through the relationship with the HQ subscale (r=-0.71**). As for reliability, coefficient alpha was 0.93, test-retest reliability was 0.80. From these results the reliability was supported.
慢性病者へのインタビュー結果から，普段は病気という感覚なく元気に生活しているが，受診時や症状の出現・増悪，新たな治療を開始する際に，病気であるという感覚が強くなることが明らかになった．このような感覚を病い感という概念で捉えることが慢性病者の健康を捉えるうえで重要であると考え，病い感という尺度を開発し，糖尿病患者を対象に尺度の妥当性と信頼性の検討を行った．
