ラット甲状腺由来濾胞細胞株IFRTL-5をTSHで長時間処理することにより、細胞内cAMP濃度が上昇、IGF-1に応答した増殖が促進される。その際、IGF-1受容体基質（IRS)-1および2のIGF-1依存的なチロシンリン酸化が増強されるが、その際、IRS-1および2が複合 体を形成することを見出し、さら に、その複合体がチロシンリン酸化の増強に重要な役割を果たしていることが明らかとなった。
