"An Analysis of the Representation of Policewomen: from 'Copperettes' to Pin-up Girls in 1970s" (Traditional Panel 001 A Comparative Analysis of Policewomen in Postwar Popular Media: Britain, US, and Japan)

In this panel, an overview of the history of the policewomen in Britain since WW I were presented. Then, the representation of policewomen in British print media such as Picture Post and Daily Mirror from wartime to the 1970s was analyzed, and  how policing came to be accepted as a career for women in post-war Britain through an analysis of policewomen in mass media was examined.
