This research focuses on “Harajuku Kawaii” fashion style. The second author who is a fashion expert suggests that Harajuku Kawaii style differs from the street snaps at Harajuku and Shibuya in terms of high variety of colors. This assumption is based on her rich fashion experience, however, there is no objective evidence. Therefore, we prepared the original data sets of Harajuku Kawaii style and street snaps at Harajuku and Shibuya and employed colorfulness metric to quantify the variety of colors. The images of each data sets were selected using specific heuristic rules according to the fashion experience. From the data analysis, we found that Harajuku Kawaii contains the highest colorfulness when compared to the other two street snaps data sets, hence confirmed the initial assumption.
