Verification of the effectiveness of an apparel textile retrieval system using a Kansei information database for Swedish designers

To assist the electronic commerce of textiles, we constructed an apparel textile retrieval
system based on the Kansei (sensory term and value) database which was added sensory
evaluation values to fabric conventional information with arranging the designers’ criteria for
selecting a fabric. In consideration of the internationalization of the apparel textile retrieval system,
we verified the performance of the English version of the system for four Swedish designers. The
designers also gave Kansei values and the scores were compared with those given by a Japanese designer. All four designers were able to find a textile within the given time. The Kansei values given by Japanese and Swedish designers had a high coefficient of correlation.
