OBJECTIVE： The present study shows the time prior to an impending massive earthquake until the time of an earthquake disaster and the subsequent recovery and restoration, and it was conducted with the aim of developing a foundation for investigating the Nursing System Continuity Plan (NSCP).
METHODS： As a preliminary step for the drafting of the NSCP, our investigation surveyed four different points from two hospital staff members who had experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake in order to clarify how the earthquake affected the NSCP, several a point-by-point organization of the NSCP required for hospitals.
RESULTS：Function stop period for nursing (hospital) services： The two hospitals investigated by us maintained nursing services starting from the actual day of the disaster. However, as time passed, the addition of new services, such as accepting injured patients related to the earthquake disaster, patrolling the region for diagnosis and treatment, and transport of patients because of damage to the facility, led to circumstances that impacted ordinary nursing services.

結果：看護(病院)業務の機能停止期間：今回調査対象となった2つの病院は、発災当日から看護業務を維持していた。しかし時間の経過とともに、震災に関連した受傷患者の受け入れや地域への巡回診療、施設の破損に伴う患者の移送等新たな業務が加わることで、通常の看護業務に影響を及ぼす状況となっていった。
