On October 5, 2015, 12 countries representing 40% of the world's GDP reached agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement ("TPP"), which was signed on February 4. 2016, Talwan joined this agreement. Since the content of agricultural trade is often a contentious issue in the negotiation of international economic agreements, Japan's experience is of considerable referential value to Taiwan. Based on Japan's experience in agricultural negotiations in its participation in the TPP, this paper concludes that participation in the TPP is indeed beneficial to the Japanese economy as a whole, with little impact on the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries industries. There is also the fact that Japan has not added much in the way of new agricultural policies to the TPP, most of which are merely enhancements or tweaks of the original policies. Taiwan has implemented the strengthened agricultural policies as soon as possible, suggesting that there is room for rapid action when implementing TPP agricultural measures in the future.
