This study aims to clarify the reception environment for vegetarian tourists in Japan by interviewing with Taiwanese vegetarians who have visited Japan. There are five findings from the interviews. First, the minimum requirement for accepting vegetarians is that meat and seafood are not included. Second, the behaviors of vegetarians at the restaurant in Japan are different from their behaviors in Taiwan. Third, the overall evaluation of tourism in Japan by the interviewees is high, but the level of satisfaction with the food is low. Fourth, many find it difficult to notify that they are vegetarians. Fifth, the evaluation of food provided by the hotels is low.
